Welcome to Arran’s Food Journey’s first newsletter

Arran’s Food Journey has been set up to support Arran’s food and drink businesses and to make sure as many people as possible get the chance to enjoy some of the fantastic produce that is grown, reared and made here.

Over the coming weeks we’ll focus more closely on the businesses make this food and drink and the places you can buy an sample it but for now here’s and overview of the amazing variety of produce that comes from our island.

Agriculture on Arran is focussed on beef and lamb production and some of that make it’s way to the islands butcher and restaurant tables, we also have venison and wild boar too. There are also some growers whose crops include vegetables, salad, herbs and barley. Its possible to find out more and hear Arran’s food story on a farm tour.

Arran has a dairy farm; the rich creamy milk can be bought fresh with some made in to award winning cheese and ice cream

Away from agriculture we have a traditional and artisan bakers, and a chocolate maker and freshly landed langoustines too.

For those that like a tipple or two whisky, gin and beer are all produced on Arran.

Much of this produce makes is available on mainland Scotland and beyond but we think its best bought and sampled locally whilst exploring Arran, seeing and where it is grown and made

As well as the producers’ own shops we have 3 great village shops who stock a wide variety of Arran food and drink as well as some great places to eat and drink out where you’ll be served with a smile.
